A staff writer for The New Yorker for over twenty years, Orlean is “fascinated by tales of every stripe,” from Rin Tin Tin, to The Orchid Thief, to her latest award-winning, bestseller The Library Book, an exploration of the history, power and future of these endangered institutions.

Join us for an evening with Susan Orlean as part of the Friends of Central Library's Rosamond Gifford Author Series.

COVID-19 Guidelines

A note from FOCL:

We care about the health and safety of our audience, authors, and staff, and appreciate your patience and cooperation as we move forward with our celebrated author series!

Guidelines as we begin…
Current Onondaga County guidelines require that masks be worn in all County buildings, including The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater, regardless of vaccination status. We ask that you enter the building through the set of doors closest to the courthouse on Montgomery Street . All persons entering will be required to have their temperature taken, as well as provide proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test administered within 72 hours of the event. If you are attending with another person or group, please communicate the above requirements to all attending.
