Sock Out CancerĀ® proudly presents an exciting concert to benefit financially distressed cancer patients in the Syracuse Region. A Musical Tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel is a high-energy show featuring a seven-piece band fronted by Philip Myers and Matt Cusson, who have had successful careers of their own. They will have the crowd on its feet singing and clapping along to timeless classics including Piano Man, Only the Good Die Young, Bennie and the Jets, My Life, Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Movinā€™ Out, Your Song, Philadelphia Freedom, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, You May Be Right, Candle in the Wind, Tiny Dancer, New York State of Mind, Itā€™s Still Rock and Roll to Me, Big Shot and many others.

Philip Myers (Elton John) has entertained audiences all over the world. He has written songs for and recorded with many well-known artists including Johnny Cash, Alabama, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, and Garth Brooks. He has also had the honor of performing for four U.S. Presidents. Philip appeared in the title role of Jesus in the National Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, and has performed as the opening act or shared the stage with many top entertainers including Elton John, Celine Dion, John Denver, Don Henley, Willie Nelson, Michael Bolton, CeeLo Green, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and Ray Charles.

Matt Cusson (Billy Joel) is an award-winning singer/songwriter who has worked with artists such as James Taylor, Megan Hilty, Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Dave Koz, Anderson Paak, Kendrick Lamar, The Roots, CeeLo Green, and mentor Brian McKnight. Mattā€™s 2009 debut album was received with rave reviews and won many songwriter and performance awards including The John Lennon Songwriting Contestā€™s biggest award, ā€œThe Maxell Song of The Year,ā€ and a Billboard Songwriting Award. Matt also won the 2017 John Lennon Songwriting Award for Best R&B song for ā€œLeaving L.A.ā€ Mattā€™s TV performances include The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The View, Christmas in Rockefeller Center, Live with Kelly and Michael, Live with Regis and Kelly, and the Rachael Ray Show. Matt has also recently filmed a PBS Special with Megan Hilty. His most recent albumā€”Only Humanā€”is available now.

Net proceeds from the concert go to the Crouse Health Foundation, St. Josephā€™s Health Foundation and Upstate Foundation to assist cancer patients and their families referred by Crouse Health, St. Josephā€™s Health and Upstate Cancer Center case workers.

Sock Out CancerĀ® is a nonprofit initiative that aids financially distressed families so they can put all their energy into fighting cancer. It is funded through donations, community-based fundraising efforts and the sale of its signature multi-colored socks, all of which also help raise public awareness of the financial challenges facing families fighting cancer.
